Our Team

Dr. Black was born in Grand Junction Colorado and is the 4th of 7 children. His father is a retired Army Colonel (WWII Veteran), and a civil engineer. His mother is a retired school teacher. In high school, Dr. Black enjoyed art and wrestling. He received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He married his childhood sweetheart and took his first job with Diamond Shamrock as a co-op chemical engineer. He completed his pre-dental curriculum at the University of Houston. He graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981. While at Baylor, he was honored for being the outstanding student in his class.

Native to Hempstead, Susan has worked for Dr. Black since 1988. She graduated from Wharton County Junior College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science in 1991 and then went on to become a Registered Dental Hygenist. She enjoys spending time with her 5 year old son and riding horses.

Pam, born in Houston though raised in Cypress, now resides in Waller. While working as a dental assistant, she obtained an Associates Degree in Applied Science in 1989 from Wharton County Junior College and then graduated from Dental Hygiene School in 1990. She has worked for Dr. Black since 1994. She enjoys water sports and being with her 13 year old daughter, Whitney and 7 year old son, Garrett.

Born in Taylor, Texas, Sheila moved to the coast while in the 6th grade. She graduated from LaPorte High School in 1970 and 7 years later, she entered the dental field. She has worked with Dr. Black for the past 16 years. She enjoys working with cattle, deer hunting, camping and being with her family. 

Janna is originally from Brigham City, Utah. She met her husband at Utah State University. After her husband graduated they took a job opportunity in the Houston area. Janna brings a varied background of work experience and joined Dr. Black’s team in August of 2004. She and her husband have biked in the 2004 and 2005 - MS 150 Charity Bike Rides (that’s 172 miles she biked from Houston to Austin!!!). Besides bicycling, she enjoys gardening, spending time with family and traveling. She has one child and is looking forward to grandchildren.

Kelly, though born in Houston, grew up in Cypress where she currently resides. She graduated from Cy_Fair High School and has completed 2 years of course work at Tomball Community College. Kelly has worked with Dr. Black since 2000. She enjoys collecting antiques, scrapbooking, and being with family and friends. 

Donna was born and raised in New England, and moved to Texas when she was 21. She attended college at Austin Community College and Southwest Texas State University. She brings to Dr. Black's office over 25 years experience in LAN Administration, legal, insurance and accounting office management. She enjoys family, grandchildren, genealogy, horses, reading, gardening, and cooking.

Carolyn is from Chillicothe Ohio. She attended college at BYU-Idaho. Work brought her to the Houston area where she met and married her husband. They have 4 children. They have built their home in the country on 18 acres where their children enjoy their animals. Much of the work on their home they have done themselves. She has taught early morning seminary and volunteers frequently in the local schools. She stays busy with her daughters’ school drama activities and her sons’ ball games. Carolyn is Dr. Black’s ‘Schedule Coordinator’ and has been a part of his team since the fall of 2003.

Eunice is a native Texan and was raised in Sugar Land, Texas. She, her husband and 3 children moved to Hempstead in 1980 for job opportunities. Before coming to work at Dr. Black’s office Eunice worked over 12 years for Star of Hope Friendship Ranch in a secretarial position. She has been with Dr. Black’s office since 1994 and is cross-trained to work in every position. Her hobbies are quilting, crocheting and she does a lot of camping with her husband. She is very active in her church and the community. Eunice enjoys her 9 grandchildren. Eunice would like to retire, but Dr. Black and his team would miss her too much.

Jolynne is Dr. Black’s wife and she loves working as part of his Team. Raised in Colorado and Utah, she enjoys the mountains and outdoors. She received her education at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. When asked what her favorite thing to do is, she will reply, “Make memories with my family.” She is an “Assistant Business Administrator”, but she’ll tell you she is the “Social Coordinator”.

Mandy is the youngest of our team. She is a full-time college student attending Blinn College in Brenham where she is majoring in ‘Pre-Dental Hygiene’.  She graduated from Hempstead High in 2004 where she participated on the cross-country, power lifting, volleyball, and softball teams and was involved with the Student Council, PALS and Beta Club. She was a Texas Scholar. She plans to attend hygiene school in the fall of 2006. She enjoys spending time with her family, loves to cook and loves to read. At present she is our ‘Office Assistant’ and a very important part of our team.

Terri Jarvis was born in Grand Junction, CO where she lived until she was 9 years old when her family moved to Provo, UT. She graduated from Provo High School and afterwards attended Utah Valley State College where she graduated as a certified dental assistant. Later, she trained under Dr. Gordon Christiansen to be a denture lab technician. She has been working for Dr. Black for over 14 years. Terri enjoys her 5 children, sewing and reading.
